System for Telepathology
Overview
The typical Telepathology System
utilises point to point communication. In our case
Standard Telephone Network (POTS). ISDN Network,
Satellite Communication, Wireless Link or Radio Link
using special modems can be used.
We distinguish between:
- Capture/Transmission Site
and
- Receving Site.
What is needed on the Capture site?
- Microscope capable to mount a
Color Camera - several microscope manufacturers)
- Color Camera - high resolution
-several brands can be recommended
- Computer System
- Software for Capturing,
Viewing/Manipulating, Management, Transmitting of
images, text, annotations
- Optionaly a PhotoBank database
module for storing/archiving of images can be
added
- Modem
- the choice depends on the choice
of the communication link used
Depending on the work which will be done on this site an
appropriate printer will be needed ( i.e. color printer -
ink jet, laser, video)
What is needed on Receiving Site?
- the choice depends on the choice
of the communication link used
- Computer System
- Software for Receiving,
Viewing/Manipulating, Printing, Storing,
Archiving of images, text, annotations
What does our solution provide to
the user?

PhotoBank (optional)
Overview
PhotoBank integrated in the Photophone for Windows allows
the user to design and create customised image databases,
incorporating images captured locally from a variety of
video sources or having received images from another
Photophone system. Images are immediately available at a
keystroke, simply by entering a name, number, description
or any other parameter held within the database system.
Any field of data can be searched on and all matching
records will be displayed on the screen.
Digit Image SA offers the
possibility to deliever customised database (defined on
user needs).
Multiple Image fields
An unlimited number of images can
be stored with each stored record. Each image has an
attached individual image field, providing specific
information.
Autodialler
When running under Windows, user
can enter a sequence of numbers to be called (or select
these from an on-line phone book) to automatically send a
sequence of images.
Image display
On retrieval of records, the
attached image fields can be viewed in three different
sizes:
Postage Stamps: Showing text
and linked images below.
Quarter screen: Showing each
image as quarter screen, plus text.
Full screen: A image-only
display, showing image as whole screen.
Additional features (to
already described on previous pages)
Search facilities: Exact
search, partial search, soundlike search, compare search,
free text search, search text on images.
Compare image facility:
Images can be tagged, and then compared with images from
the same or other records.
