PACS/DX
ScanStations feature a Windows-based application which is
compatible with a full range of laser film scanners. The
scanners provide the density and resolution needed to
visualize subtle abnormalities in clinical films. They
are ideally suited for basic teleradiology, high
resolution teleradiology, film-to-digital environments
and PACS.
The PACS/DX ScanStation also facilitates the scanning and
entry of demographic information required by DICOM 3.0.
The user simply selects the size of the film, the desired
resolution, the desired grayscale range (8-bit for 256
grayscale or 12-bit for 4096 grayscale), the orientation
of the film and the film source device. All of these
settings can be named and saved as convenient presets.
The
patient demographics associated with each film may be
entered while the film is scanning. Patient data may be
entered via the keyboard (which utilizes the local
database to recall previously entered data) or by an
optional bar code reader.
A preview
window and magnification tools enable the user to verify
correct image orientation. Reorientation tools allow the
image to be corrected without rescanning. Scanned images
may also be cropped so that only the region of interest
is saved and transmitted (thereby minimizing the size of
the data file).

PACS/DX Direct
Video Capture (DVC)
The PACS/DX DVC is a Windows-based application which
captures video images from imaging modalities and
converts those images to a DICOM 3.0 format. The video
capture device digitizes the analog video signal
(8-bits), with no loss of resolution, for transfer and
storage. Images are individually captured utilizing a
simple two-button remote video capture controller at the
modality.
Patient
information is obtained via the terminal or an optional
bar code reader. For hospital to home applications, auto
demographics may be used to enter a default patient
identification number and study number.
